DOK Retreat May 13-15, 2016
The theme for our first-ever Daughters of the King retreat was healing and serenity and hopefully we found a little of both May 13-15. There were 27 of us at the retreat, including four from St. Peter’s Church in Tunkhannock. Thirteen of us stayed for the weekend and fourteen came for Saturday’s programs, which included a talk on serenity from John Zimmerman, a hospice Chaplain, a Yoga/meditation session given by Kathy Berry and a healing service by Rev. Lou Divis of St. Peter’s. We also had access to Camp Lackawanna’s beautiful nature trails, outdoor chapel and labyrinth. We were blessed by sightings of a pair of Bald Eagles who nest across the Susquehanna river from the camp!
A huge thanks to Maggie Sock for organizing this event, and to Carol Marker, for assisting with the planning. DOK President Vicky Calby and Brenda Syle, DOK Vice President, planned and shopped for our incredible array of food and drink. Additional thanks to Vicky and Brenda for supporting this first-ever event.
